Together is a Wonderful Place to Be

This picture hanging in our rental unit perfectly expresses how I feel about the past week.   Dave and I, along with our oldest son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons have been visiting our youngest son and his family in Newport Beach, California.  A family reunion just missing our middle son  and grandson who graciously offered to pet sit for us.

It has been a wonderful week getting to know our granddaughter and spending time with our two grandsons, aged 13 and 10.  At one year old, Sunny is doing all the fun and funny things a little one does. She loves the water, a true California girl.

Our thirteen year old grandson is a great young man and I really enjoyed spending time with him this week. His birthday was Sunday and we were able to help celebrate .  The guys spent the day at a Dodger game.

The ten year old kept me laughing the entire week.  Tuesday evening we went to a diner on the pier.  They have a gum ball machine and if you happen to get a red gum ball you get a free rootbeer float.  AJ ( the 10 year old) asked for  quarter, explaining what he could win.   The gambler in me, knowing the odds, gave him the quarter with the warning that it was highly unlikely he would get a red gum ball.  What do you think happened?   He got the red gum ball and a free root beer float.   He then gave me the “lucky” gum ball to take to Las Vegas with the instructions that I should tap it on a Blazing Sevens machine 21 times because three sevens equals twenty one . You can *bet* I will be holding and tapping that gum ball .

Tonight we’ll have our last family dinner. Tomorrow, Dave and I head to Las Vegas for a few days and the Ohio kids head home.

It has been the best week!  Together really is a wonderful place to be.
