My dear husband of 40+ years and I have an ongoing joke. Whenever one of us says something not so nice to the other we might say “you hurt my feeling” and the other says “your ONE feeling”.
My one feeling has been raw for the last month. Tears near the surface and spilling over at anything even remotely sad. Spilling over at things not even sad, maybe happy or funny.
I may even cry at the grocery store insert in the Sunday paper.
I really need to get a grip or some bubble wrap to put my one feeling in for a little bit.
Perhaps I’ll hang a sign around my neck that says “My one Feeling is on vacation, hold that thought”. Maybe a break would give my feeling time to grow a thicker skin or a fur coat for the winter.
In the meantime, don’t mind the tears. It could be you said something hilarious.
